Joshua Poyner is an American composer and educator currently based out of Northeastern NC. He has a B.M. in Music Theory & Composition, with concentration in Composition.
Joshua Poyner has been privileged to study with Mark Taggart, Ed Jacobs, and Mark Richardson, as well as receive mentoring from distinguished composers James Mobberley, Matthew Ricketts, and Travis Alford. Poyner’s music has been commissioned by several of his colleagues and by the ECU Tuba Euphonium Ensemble.
Mr. Poyner is also very involved in the marching arts. He has years of experience as a Caption Head in Drumline and Brass for high school marching bands. He also had the privilege of serving as the music arranger for the 2019 Indian River High School Marching Chiefs in Chesapeake, VA.
Joshua Poyner is a brother of Kappa Kappa Psi, National Honorary Band Fraternity. He is also a member of SCI (Society of Composers Inc.) and BMI (Broadcast Music Inc.).
