According to the World Health Organization, approximately 300 million people worldwide suffer from depression. In the U.S., almost 16 million adults have experienced a major depressive episode in the last year and an estimated 15 percent of the adult population will experience depression at some point in their lifetime.
Many of us suffer in silence, going through our daily motions with no discernible sense of purpose. We repeat this day after day until the situation seems to get better, but ultimately ends without resolve.
