When Hope Is Needed Most is an attempt to illustrate the process of finding hope in a time of need. The melody that is featured on the trombone is meant to be the catalytic speech that causes the hope to grow in the rest of the ensemble for the remainder of the piece. It shows how the optimism of one can influence everyone around.
