Rotorelief. is a piece for fixed media. The basis of the music follows Marcel Duchamp’s experimental film “Anemic Cinema.” The film depicts drawings rotating on a phonograph turntable (which Duchamp called Rotoreliefs), as well as French phrases whirling in the same fashion. To maintain this central theme, a vast majority of the sounds used are products of rotation. Through manipulation of these sounds, a hypnotic effect is brought about.
